This past weekend, Wattie and I continued our off-season road trip over to Tempe to join everyone at Ironman Arizona. My friend and coach, Joe Gambles, raced, so it was awesome for me to be able to repay some of the support that he gave me all year and especially at Kona.
It was also an opportunity for me to be at the Wattie Ink. booth and help out on the business side of things. I watch Wattie work so hard day in and day out to build Wattie Ink., as well as Colleen, our events coordinator, out there at events working her butt off. So it was great for me to get a chance to join them without the pressure of racing. I got to meet so many new people, as well as many of you whom I’ve met before, or even at Arizona last year! Thank you to everyone who came by the Wattie Ink. booth and said hi and checked out some of the new stuff we are offering!
This is the second year in a row that I have had the opportunity to stand on the other side of the fence and cheer everyone on rather than be in the race myself and it was just as memorable as last year. It’s great to see so many different people out there on the race course, most who were generally enjoying themselves and having fun (minus the times you were in pain).
We watched the frontrunners put in amazing performances and people further back put in just as inspiring performances in regards to perseverance. Some people had longer days than others but were just as determined to finish and it was pretty cool to see that from the sidelines.
It was absolutely incredible to see so many W kits out on the race course and Wattie and I truly can’t express our gratitude for that support. We started manufacturing our own apparel in San Diego barely 2 years ago, and it’s been a whirlwind of learning and improving to get the best product out there. A sincere thank you to all of you for standing by us in this process, through various ups and downs and for rocking the W in your training and racing. THANK YOU.
To everyone who raced at AZ- such a HUGE congrats and hopefully you are recovering okay!!!! Try an epsom salt bath to help with any residual swelling :)
Wattie and I drove for two days straight to make it from AZ back to Bend and are excited to be back here in Oregon for the holidays. I will be finalizing my schedule for 2017 soon, and am getting excited for the season ahead! Thank you again to everyone for your support and enjoy the off-season! :)
